King Of Oblivion
(Spoken.)
Kirk: All right, glad to see you stuck around.
Neil: Just a good time.
(audience cheers)
Kirk: Woo-oo!
Neil: Just a good time. Before we go any futher, I have an important announcement to make.
Kirk: What's that, Neil?
Neil: For those of you who've been coming to the Heartland ____ for a very long time, just like I have. Been getting drunk here for a very large chunk of your life, just like I have. (audience cheers) You might recall, in the midst and the blur of it all that there used to be a wonderful old wooden sign out there in the front.
Kirk: I remember that sign.
Neil: Yeah, the city, in their infinite wisdom made them take down (accented) - that's down if you're not from Belfast - made them take down and put up this big plastic thing. So, they took the old sign - being very traditionally minded as good Irish pubs always are - they took the old sign and they put it on the other end of the building.
Kirk: That wonderful, old wooden sign.
Neil: Yeah, and the city in their infinite wisdom came by and told them they had to take it down from there as well. So they took it down from there -that's down - they took it down from there and they put it over against the fence and sombody ___ with it Sunday night.
(audience boos.)
Neil: So...
Kirk: Boo!
Neil: Now, this sign has been up in front of this bar since it started. And those of us who have been here since it started, we kind of, we kind of miss it.
Kirk: We miss that wonderful old sign.
Neil: So if you know anybody who has, like, turned it into a coffee table or something...uh, or if you, in fact, have turned it into a coffee table, please uh, please uh
Kirk: Bring it back, we'll buy you a pint for Chrissakes.
Neil: Bring it back, there's a reward; no questions asked. If it just shows up, you know, we really would like to have it back. It's a little bit of St. Petersburg Beach history and it really belongs to the bar so if you know of it's whereabouts or you have a good idea, please let them know because they don't want to bust anybody, they just want their sign back. So uh,
(drums start)
Kirk: Bring back that wonderful old sign! Come on! (starts chant) Bring back that sign. Huh! Bring back that sign, huh! Bring back that sign, huh! (To drummer) Come on, Ashton!
(Drums pick up as chanting continues...)
Neil: (rapping) A big ol' sign, a big wooden sign, used to hang out in front of the pub. (repeat) The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!
Kirk: The roof!
(Drums take over.)
Kirk: Big finish! We'll keep it going, come on.
(Bagpipes join in!)
(Then guitars.)
Kirk: Bring back the sign!
Neil: BRING IT BACK!
